Huron County Community Foundation 2023 Annual Report
It’s with great pride that I address you as the Board President of Huron County Community Foundation (HCCF)—an organization I’ve been involved with since 2016. Before stepping into my role as a board member, I had the pleasure of working with HCCF donors to help create funds and achieve their philanthropic goals. Community foundations, unlike other philanthropic organizations, focus on establishing endowment funds within a specific geographic area. These funds are carefully managed and invested, allowing them to grow over time while the earned income is used to support a wide range of charitable initiatives. This unique model is what first a
racted me to HCCF. It’s why I continue to believe our work is the best way to ensure sustainable, long-term impact throughout Huron County. HCCF was founded in 1997 and entered into a management agreement with Erie County Community Foundation (ECCF) in 2021. Since then, we have seen a significant increase in the volume and value of grant requests, illustrating our growing visibility and ability to create positive change. We are grateful to all our generous donors and honored to play a part in improving the quality of life in Huron County. On behalf of everyone at HCCF, I hope you enjoy the stories that follow about some of the excellent work being done by local people and non-profits, and how the Foundation is helping our community think, play, and grow! Sincerely, Michele Skinn President, Board of Directors Huron County Community Foundation welcomes two new board members in 2023.
